Coolant Temperature Indicator
- If temperature indicator light comes on with engine running and overheating, check and repair cooling system. If engine is not overheating, remove connector from temperature sender/switch unit.
- If indicator goes out, install a new sender/switch unit. If indicator remains on, disconnect Dark Green/White wire from ignition switch. If indicator goes out, replace ignition switch.
- If indicator stays on, locate short to ground in instrument panel printed circuit, Dark Green wire between ignition switch and instrument panel or Dark Green wire between coolant temperature switch and indicator.
- If coolant temperature indicator does not glow while starting engine, check fuse to see if other gauges or indicators work. If fuse is blown, check for short in instrument panel or in Pink/Black wire between fuse block and instrument panel. Replace fuse and retest.
- If fuse is okay, check bulb. If bulb is okay, ground Dark Green/White wire at ignition switch. If indicator does not come on, locate and repair open in instrument panel or in Dark Green wire between instrument panel and ignition switch.
- If indicator comes on, check connection at ignition switch. If connection is okay, replace ignition switch. If connection is poor, repair or replace as necessary.
