Disc Caliper - Rear: Reassembly
- Install bleeder screw, fitting and bolt (use new copper washers). Lubricate new piston seal with brake fluid and install in caliper bore groove.
- Fit boot on piston with inside boot lip in piston groove and boot fold toward inner brake shoe end of piston. Install new thrust washer and seal on actuator screw.
- Lubricate actuator screw with brake fluid and install in piston. Fit balance spring in piston and start piston assembly in caliper housing.NOTE: Caliper housing and activator screws must be installed on same side of vehicle from which they were removed.
- Using Piston Installer (J-23072), push piston to bottom of bore. Ensure piston is straight or screw may damage seal as it passes through. Before removing tool, install lever away from stop, rotate forward and hold while tightening nut.
- Remove piston installer and rotate lever back to stop. Using Boot Installer (J-28678), seat boot in housing. Install dampening spring on piston end groove. Install lining and caliper.
