Coolant Temperature Indicator
- If temperature indicator light comes on with engine running and overheating, check and repair cooling system. If engine is not overheating, remove connector from temperature sender/switch unit.
- If the indicator goes out, install a new sender/switch unit. If indicator remains on, disconnect the wire (Dark Green/White) from the ignition switch. If the indicator goes out, replace the ignition switch.
- If indicator stays on, locate short to ground in the instrument panel printed circuit, the wire (Dark Green) between ignition switch and instrument panel or the wire (Dark Green) between coolant temperature switch and the indicator.
- If coolant temperature indicator does not glow while starting engine, check fuse to see if other gauges or indicators work. If fuse is blown, check for short in instrument panel or in wire (Pink/Black) between fuse block and instrument panel. Replace fuse and retest.
- If fuse is okay, check bulb. If bulb is okay, ground the wire (Dark Green/White) at the ignition switch. If indicator does not come on, locate and repair open in instrument panel or in wire (Dark Green) between instrument panel and ignition switch.
- If indicator comes on, check connection at ignition switch. If connection is okay, replace ignition switch. If connection is bad, repair or replace as necessary.
