Torsional Damper: Installation

  1. Coat front cover seal contact area on damper with oil. Clean and apply sealant to key and keyway. Place damper in position over key on crankshaft. Using Hub Installer (J-25288), pull damper in position on hub leaving .50" (13 mm) of thread engagement. Remove installer.
  2. Install accessory drive pulley and damper retaining bolts. Tighten to specification. Lower vehicle. Install accessory drive belts and related components. Tighten belts, nuts and bolts to specification.
