Removal & Installation (Crankshaft Removed)

  1. Remove rope seal from rear main bearing cap and block. Clean bearing cap and seal grooves. Inspect for cracks. Drive new rope seal into bearing cap with Seal Installer (J-25285A). Cut off excess flush with bearing cap.
  2. Form new rope seal in rear seal groove in block. Complete crankshaft repair and install. Push rope seal into block seal groove and trim excess. Apply sealant to ends. Tap main bearing cap in place. Install main bearing cap bolts and tighten. Reverse removal procedures to complete installation.
