Removal (Left Side)
- Disconnect battery and spark plug wires. On all models except Cutlass and Regal, remove air cleaner. Bend exhaust manifold lock tabs back.
- On all models, remove inner (Riviera and Toronado only), upper and lower exhaust heat shrouds. See Fig 1. If necessary, remove lower power steering adjusting bracket. On all models, raise vehicle and support on hoist. Disconnect exhaust pipe.
- Lower vehicle. On Cutlass and Regal, disconnect intermediate steering column shaft. On all except Cutlass and Regal, remove lower alternator bracket. On all models, loosen manifold retaining bolts from outside-to-inside (with engine cold). Remove exhaust manifold from above.
