No Low Fuel Tone

  1. Unplug 6 wire connector near fuel tank. Connect rheostat leads from Tester (J-33431-A) between Pink wire in male half and ground. Set resistance to 4 ohms. Start engine. After 15 seconds, low fuel tone should sound.
  2. If system does not respond as specified, remove left hand sound absorber located above brake pedal. Start engine. After 15 seconds, set resistance on tester to 86 ohms.
  3. Using digital voltmeter, check voltage at Tan/Black wire of chimes/voice module. Module is located in center of instrument panel under radio. Voltmeter should read charging system voltage. Turn off engine. Set tester resistance to 4 ohms. Start engine. After 15 seconds, reading should be 0-1.5 volts.
  4. If readings are as specified in step 3), replace chimes/voice module. If not, shut off engine. Remove left front speaker cover. Disconnect negative battery cable. Unplug cluster harness connector. Unplug chimes/voice module.
  5. Use an ohmmeter to check for opens or shorts between Tan/Black wire of module and pin H (Tan/Black wire) of harness connector. If wiring is good, replace cluster.
