Constant -38° Displayed For Inside Ambient Air Temperature

NOTE: A constant -38° is displayed when there is an open circuit in the inside ambient air temperature sensor circuit.
  1. Remove right front speaker cover. Check connections at inside ambient air temperature sensor. If good, disconnect negative battery cable. Unplug inside air temperature sensor connector.
  2. Connect jumper wire between both wires. Remove left front speaker cover. Unplug cluster harness connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for shorts and opens, between pins C (Dark Green wire) and U (Black wire).
  3. If wiring is good, remove jumper wire. Plug connector into inside air temperature sensor. Check resistance between pins C and U of cluster harness connector. Record resistance. Use thermometer and measure air temperature.
  4. Compare resistance and temperature to specifications. See Temperature Sensor Resistance chart. If resistances are as specified, replace cluster. If not, replace inside air temperature sensor.
