Diagnosis Procedure

- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
If DTC P23EB is displayed with the following DTC, first perform the confirmation procedure (trouble diagnosis) for the applicable DTC.
- P0021
- P0345
- P1145
- P34A8
- P34A9
- P34AA
- P34AB
- P34B0
- P34B1
Is DTC P0021, P0345, P1145, P34A8, P34A9, P34AA, P34AB, P34B0 or P34B1 detected?
YES
Perform diagnosis of applicable.
- DTC P0021: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P0345: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P1145: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P34A8: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P34A9: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P34AA: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P34AB: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P34B0: Refer to DTC Description .
- DTC P34B1: Refer to DTC Description .
NO
GO TO 2.
- CHECK INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR (BANK 2) SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR ELECTRIC INTAKE VALVE TIMING CONTROL
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector and electric intake valve timing control module harness connector.
- Check the continuity between ECM harness connector and electric intake valve timing control module harness connector.

- Also check harness for short to power and short to ground.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 3.
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK ELECTRIC INTAKE VALVE TIMING (IVT) CONTROL ACTUATOR (BANK 2) CIRCUIT
- Disconnect electric IVT control actuator (bank 2) harness connector.
- Disconnect electric IVT control module harness connector.
- Check the continuity between electric IVT control actuator (bank 2) harness connector and ECM harness connector.
