Removal and Installation: Adjustment

NOTE:
After replacing brake shoes or disc rotors, or if brakes do not function well, perform break-in operation as follows.
- Adjust parking brake pedal stroke. Refer to Inspection and Adjustment .
- Perform parking brake break-in operation by driving the vehicle forward under the following conditions:
- Vehicle speed at 40 +/- 5 km/h (25 +/- 3 MPH)
- Apply parking brake pedal with an operating force of 250 +40, -0 N (25.5 +4.1, -0 kg-f, 56.2 +9.0, -0 lb-f)
- Apply parking brake for a period of 15 +5, -0 seconds
CAUTION:- To prevent lining from getting too hot, allow a cool off period of approximately 5 minutes after every break-in operation.
- Do not perform excessive break-in operations, because it may cause uneven or early wear of lining.
- After break-in operation, check parking brake pedal stroke. Readjust if the parking brake pedal stroke is not within specification. Refer to Inspection and Adjustment .
