DTC Diagnosis Procedure

The BCM monitors the condition of the door key cylinder switch circuit and translates as the LOCK or UNLOCK signal.

  1. CHECK DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

    Check front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch), back door lock assembly (key cylinder switch), and sliding door lock assembly (key cylinder switch) functionality individually by monitoring the KEY CYL LK-SW and KEY CYL UN-SW in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT.

    • When key inserted in key cylinder is turned to LOCK:

    KEY CYL LK-SW

    : ON

    • When key inserted in key cylinder is turned to UNLOCK:

    KEY CYL UN-SW

    : ON

    SYMBOL Without CONSULT

    Check voltage between BCM connector terminals 7, 8 and ground. Check each key cylinder switch individually.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES

    Key cylinder switch signal is OK.

    NO

    GO TO 2

  2. CHECK DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH GROUND HARNESS 
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
    2. Disconnect suspect door lock assembly (key cylinder switch).
    3. With sliding door in the closed position, check continuity between door lock assembly (key cylinder switch) connector D14, D609, D303 terminals 4, 3, 3 and body ground.

    Is the inspection result normal?

    YES

    GO TO 3

    NO

    Repair or replace harness.

  3. CHECK DOOR KEY CYLINDER SWITCH 

    Check continuity between suspect door lock assembly (key cylinder switch) terminals.

    NO

    Replace malfunctioning door lock assembly (key cylinder switch). Refer to Removal and Installation (front LH), Removal and Installation (sliding) or Removal and Installation (back).

  4. CHECK DOOR KEY CYLINDER HARNESS 
    1. Disconnect BCM connector.
    2. Check continuity between BCM connector M18 terminals 7, 8 and suspect door lock assembly (key cylinder switch) connector D14, D609, D303 terminals 5, 6, 2, 4, 4, 2 and body ground.

    Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation .

    Repair or replace harness.
