Removal and Installation: Removal

NOTE: When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.
  1. Discharge the refrigerant. Refer to HFC-134a (R-134a) Service Procedure .
  2. Remove the passenger side wheel and tire assembly (VQ40DE/VK56VD With Rear A/C only).
  3. Remove the passenger side front fender protector (VQ40DE/VK56VD With Rear A/C only). Refer to Exploded View .
  4. Remove the engine ground bolt from the wheel well (VQ40DE/VK56VD With Rear A/C only).
  5. Disconnect the high-pressure pipe from the underfloor rear high- and low-pressure pipes (VQ40DE/VK56VD With Rear A/C only).
  6. Disconnect the high-pressure pipe from the expansion valve.
  7. Disconnect the high-pressure pipe from the condenser.
  8. Remove the engine ground bolt from aside the battery tray (VQ40DE/VK56VD With Rear A/C only).
  9. Remove the coolant overflow tube (VQ40DE/VK56VD With Rear A/C only). Refer to Exploded View .
  10. Reposition the power steering reservoir out of the way without disconnecting the hose.
  11. Disconnect the high-pressure pipe from the three high-pressure pipe to frame retainer clips.
    NOTE: Cap the high-pressure pipe to prevent contamination.
  12. Remove the high-pressure pipe.
