Removal and Installation: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2019 Nissan NV3500 HD, 2019 Nissan NV2500 HD, and 2019 Nissan NV1500. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove oil pan (lower) and (upper). Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Remove front timing chain case. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the intake manifold collector. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove rocker covers. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  5. Reposition exhaust heat shield.
  6. Remove the starter assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  7. Remove harness grounds from the top of the rear timing chain case.
  8. Remove timing chains and related components. Refer to Removal and Installation  and Removal and Installation (Secondary Timing Chain Tensioner) .
  9. Remove the water pump. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  10. Remove rear timing chain case as follows:
    1. Loosen and remove bolts using power tool in reverse order as shown.

    2. Cut liquid gasket using Tool and remove rear timing chain case.

      Tool number

      : KV10111100 (J-37228)
      CAUTION:
      • Do not remove plate metal cover of oil passage.

      • After removal, handle rear timing chain case carefully so it does not twist, bend, or warp under a load.
  11. Remove O-rings from cylinder head and camshaft bracket (No. 1).

    CAUTION: Do not reuse O-rings.
  12. Remove O-rings from cylinder block.

    CAUTION: Do not reuse O-rings.
  13. Use scraper to remove all traces of old liquid gasket from rear timing chain case and opposite mating surfaces.

    • Remove old liquid gasket from bolt hole and thread.
