Removal and Installation of Front Oil Seal: Removal

  1. Remove front under cover using power tool. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Remove air cleaner and resonator assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove drive belt. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove engine cooling fan assembly (crankshaft driven). Refer to Removal and Installation (Crankshaft driven type) .
  5. Remove crankshaft pulley as follows:
    1. Remove rear cover plate and install Ring Gear Stopper Tool.

      Tool number

      : -- (J-48761)

    2. Loosen crankshaft pulley bolt so that there is a 10 mm (0.39 in) gap between bolt and crankshaft pulley.

      CAUTION: Do not remove crankshaft pulley bolt. Keep loosened crankshaft pulley bolt in place to protect the crankshaft pulley from dropping.
    3. Pull crankshaft pulley with both hands to remove it.
  6. Remove front oil seal using suitable tool.

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage front timing chain case or crankshaft.
