Removal and Installation: Removal

NOTE:
When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc., cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spilling.
- Remove cowl top extension. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Changing Engine Coolant .
- Remove intake manifold. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove intake and exhaust camshafts. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove exhaust manifolds. Refer to Removal and Installation (Exhaust Manifold) .
- Remove the oil pan (upper). Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove rear timing chain case. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove power steering oil pump from bracket with piping connected, and temporarily secure it aside. Refer to Removal and Installation - VQ40DE .
- Remove power steering pump and oil pump bracket and set aside.
- Remove generator and bracket. Refer to Removal and Installation - VQ40DE .
- Remove water inlet and thermostat assembly (left bank). Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove water outlet, water pipe and heater pipe (left bank). Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove cylinder head bolts in reverse order as shown using suitable tool and power tool to remove cylinder heads (right and left banks).
- Remove cylinder head gaskets.
