SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE (Passenger Van)

Removal

Disconnect both the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes. Refer to Battery Disconnect .
Remove the headlining assembly. Refer to Rear Headlining , Front Headlining .

Disconnect the harness connector from the side curtain air bag module.

CAUTION:

For removing the side curtain air bag module harness connector, insert thin screwdriver wrapped in tape into notch, lift lock and remove the connector.

Remove the side curtain air bag module bolts, and then remove the side curtain air bag module.
Remove the side curtain air bag module with brackets attached.

Installation

CAUTION:

Make sure the side curtain air bag module bag does not become twisted during installation.
Make sure each side curtain air bag module bracket supporting hook is fully engaged into the slots of the body.
Make sure side curtain air bag module tether brackets are fully engaged in the slot in the body and the tether is not twisted.

Install the side curtain air bag module bracket supporting hooks in the order shown.

Install the side curtain air bag module bolts in the order shown.

Connect the harness connectors to the side curtain air bag module.

CAUTION:

Use care during installation to avoid damage to wiring harness.

For installing the side curtain air bag module harness connector, insert thin screwdriver wrapped in tape into notch, lift lock and remove the connector.

Install the connector with lock raised, and push lock into the connector.
After installing the connector, check that the lock is pushed securely into it.

Install the headlining assembly. Refer to Rear Headlining , Front Headlining .
Connect both the negative and positive battery terminals. Refer to Removal and Installation .

CAUTION:

After the work is completed, check that no system malfunction is detected by air bag warning lamp.
If a malfunction is detected by the air bag warning lamp after repair or replacement of the malfunctioning parts, perform the SRS final check. Refer to SRS Final Check .
