Diagnosis Procedure

Automatic back door open/close function does not operate properly when using motion activated back door sensor.

1. CHECK VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 

   Check to see if vehicle is equipped with an aftermarket trailer hitch.

   Is vehicle equipped with an aftermarket trailer hitch?

   YES

   Check the FAST parts catalog to confirm that the correct motion activated back door control unit is installed for vehicles equipped with a trailer hitch.

   NO

   GO TO 2.

2. CHECK DTC WITH AUTOMATIC BACK DOOR CONTROL MODULE 

   Check that DTC is not detected with automatic back door control module.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES

   GO TO 3.

   NO

   Perform trouble diagnosis relevant to DTC indicated.

3. CHECK FOR PROPER OPERATING CONDITIONS 

   Check that the proper conditions have been met for motion activated back door operation.

   Have proper operating conditions been met?

   YES

   GO TO 4.

   NO

   Adjust conditions as needed.

4. . CHECK MOTION ACTIVATED BACK DOOR CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLY AND GROUND CIRCUIT 

   Check motion activated back door control unit power supply and ground circuit.

   Is the inspection result normal?

   YES

   Replace motion activated back door control unit.

   NO

   Repair or replace the malfunctioning parts.
