Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Drain the differential gear oil. Refer to Draining .
  2. Disconnect rear propeller shaft and support rear propeller shaft using suitable wire. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the axle shaft assemblies (LH/RH). Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Measure the total preload torque. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly .
    NOTE: Record the total preload torque measurement.
  5. Remove the drive pinion nut using suitable tool (A).

    CAUTION:
    • Do not use power tool to remove drive pinion lock nut.
    • Do not reuse drive pinion lock nut or washer.
  6. Put matching marks (A) on the companion flange and drive pinion using paint.

    CAUTION: Use paint to make the matching marks. Do not damage the companion flange or drive pinion.
  7. Remove the companion flange using suitable tool (A).

  8. Remove the front oil seal using Tool (A).

    CAUTION: Do not reuse front oil seal.
