Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Connect CONSULT and check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
- Check for DTCs P0103 - 00, P0107 - 00, P0108 - 00, P012C-00, P012D-00, P0652 - 00, P1192 - 00, P1193 - 00, P22CD - 00 or P22CE - 00 being current on the CONSULT screen.
Is any applicable DTC detected?
YES
Refer to DTC Index .
NO
GO TO 2 .
- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT DTC
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Connect CONSULT and clear past "ENGINE" diagnostic trouble codes.
- Start the engine.
- Using accelerator pedal, increase engine speed to 1, 500 RPM and hold for at least 20 seconds.
- Return engine speed to idle.
- Using CONSULT, check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
- Check for DTC P2581 - 00 being current on the CONSULT screen.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
GO TO 3 .
NO
Refer to Intermittent Incident .
- INSPECT TURBOCHARGER SPEED SENSOR AND CONNECTOR PINS
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect turbocharger speed sensor connector F126.
- Inspect the harness and sensor connector pins for the following:
- Loose connector
- Corroded pins
- Bent or broken pins
- Pushed back or expanded pins
- Moisture in or on the connector
- Missing or damaged connector seals
- Dirt or debris on or in the connector pins
- Connector shell broken
- Wire insulation damage
- Damaged connector locking tab.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 4 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK THE SENSOR SUPPLY VOLTAGE AND RETURN CIRCUIT
- Turbocharger speed sensor connector F126 remains disconnected.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check voltage between the terminals of the turbocharger speed sensor connector F126.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 5 .
NO
GO TO 6 .
- CHECK FOR A PIN TO PIN SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE HARNESS
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM connector F101.
- Check resistance between the ECM harness connector F101 terminal 188 and all other terminals in the ECM harness connector F101.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Replace the turbocharger speed sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation .
NO
A short circuit has been detected on the signal circuit in the engine harness. Repair or replace the engine harness.
- INSPECT ECM AND CONNECTOR PINS
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM connector F101.
- Inspect the harness and module connector pins for the following:
- Loose connector
- Corroded pins
- Bent or broken pins
- Pushed back or expanded pins
- Moisture in or on the connector
- Missing or damaged connector seals
- Dirt or debris on or in the connector pins
- Connector shell broken
- Wire insulation damage
- Damaged connector locking tab.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 7 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK SENSOR SUPPLY VOLTAGE AND RETURN CIRCUIT
- ECM connector F101 remains disconnected.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check voltage between the terminals of the ECM connector F101.

YES
An open circuit has been detected in the engine harness. Repair or replace the engine harness.
NO
Replace the ECM. Refer to Removal and Installation .
