The aftertreatment Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) temperature sensor module is a smart device that communicates with the ECM via the CAN2 communication lines. The SCR temperature sensor module performs it's own internal diagnostics and reports malfunctions back to the ECM using the CAN2 communication lines. The SCR temperature sensor module is used to measure the aftertreatment SCR intermediate temperature and aftertreatment SCR outlet temperature. The temperature probes are permanently attached to the SCR temperature sensor module and cannot be replaced individually.
