Installation (Without Removing Rear Seal Carrier)

  1. The rear oil seal is supplied with a plastic guide installed in its center. Do not remove this guide before the installation. It should be used to locate the seal on the crankshaft (2).

  2. Use Tool (A) to install the rear oil seal (1) into the rear seal carrier.

    Tool

    :-- - (J-54405)
    CAUTION: Do not reuse the rear oil seal.
    NOTE: The Tool fits over the rear oil seal and installs the seal to the proper depth when it is flush with the face of the rear seal carrier.
  3. Use a suitable tool to tap the Tool equally at 90 degree intervals until the rear oil seal is installed.
  4. Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.
    • Operate engine and check for leaks.
