CAUTION:
- Do not reuse the fuel pump actuator.
- To avoid possible engine and system damage or performance issues:
- Brush away all dirt and debris from the area prior to opening any fuel, air intake, exhaust, cooling, aftertreatment or other engine system.
- To avoid contamination, any open engine system ports must be closed immediately with clean care caps or an appropriate covering.
- Do not allow any debris to fall into the engine.
- Do not allow any chemical cleaners to enter the engine or any open systems during the cleaning process.
NOTE:
Lubricate the O-rings with petroleum jelly, or equivalent.
- Install the fuel pump actuator (1) into the fuel pump (2) by twisting and pushing the fuel pump actuator into the previous orientation.
- Tighten the bolts (A) as follows.
Step 1
: 4 N.m (0.4 kg-m, 35 in-lb)
Step 2
: 7 N.m (0.7 kg-m, 62 in-lb)
- Connect the fuel pump actuator harness connector.
- Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.WARNING: Diesel fuel and diesel fuel vapor is flammable. To avoid risk of fire or burns, never smoke or allow sparks or flames (such as pilot lights, electrical switches, or welding equipment) in the work area. Never allow diesel fuel to spill onto a hot exhaust manifold which can cause a fire.NOTE:
- Run CONSULT High-Pressure Fuel System Leak Test. Refer to High-Pressure Fuel System Leak Test .
- Operate the engine and check for leaks.
