Diagnosis Procedure
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Connect CONSULT and check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
- Check for DTC P0181-00 being current on the CONSULT screen.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
GO TO 2 .
NO
Refer to Intermittent Incident .
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Connect CONSULT and check for ENGINE diagnostic trouble codes.
- Check for DTC P0182-00, P0183-00, P1191-00, P1192-00 or P1193-00 being current on the CONSULT screen.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
Refer to DTC Index .
NO
GO TO 3 .
- CHECK FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect fuel temperature sensor connector F128.
- Check resistance between the terminals of the fuel temperature sensor at room temperature (25°C [77°F]).

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 4 .
NO
Replace the fuel temperature sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- INSPECT FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR AND CONNECTOR PINS
Inspect the harness and sensor connector pins for the following:
- Loose connector
- Corroded pins
- Bent or broken pins
- Pushed back or expanded pins
- Moisture in or on the connector
- Missing or damaged connector seals
- Dirt or debris on or in the connector pins
- Connector shell broken
- Wire insulation damage
- Damaged connector locking tab
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 5 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- Fuel temperature sensor connector F128 remains disconnected.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check for DTC P0183-00 being current on the CONSULT screen after 30 seconds.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
GO TO 6 .
NO
GO TO 7 .
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- Fuel temperature sensor connector F128 remains disconnected.
- Connect a jumper wire between terminals 1 and 2 of the fuel temperature sensor connector F128.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check for DTC P0182-00 being current on the CONSULT screen after 30 seconds.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
Replace the fuel temperature sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation .
NO
GO TO 7 .
- INSPECT ECM AND CONNECTOR PINS
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM connector F101.
- Inspect the harness and module connector pins for the following:
- Loose connector
- Corroded pins
- Bent or broken pins
- Pushed back or expanded pins
- Moisture in or on the connector
- Missing or damaged connector seals
- Dirt or debris on or in the connector pins
- Connector shell broken
- Wire insulation damage
- Damaged connector locking tab
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO 8 .
NO
Repair or replace error-detected parts.
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- ECM connector F101 remains disconnected.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check for DTC P0183-00 being current on the CONSULT screen after 30 seconds.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
GO TO 9 .
NO
Replace the ECM. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- CHECK DTC PRIORITY
- ECM connector F101 remains disconnected.
- Connect a jumper wire between terminals 170 and 174 of the ECM connector F101.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check for DTC P0182-00 being current on the CONSULT screen after 30 seconds.
Is applicable DTC detected?
YES
High resistance or a short circuit has been detected in the engine harness. Repair or replace the engine harness.
NO
Replace the ECM. Refer to Removal and Installation .
