Removal and Installation: Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Nissan Titan XD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the SCR temperature sensor probes (A) into the decomposition tube and SCR catalyst assembly and tighten the probes.CAUTION:
- Be careful when applying anti-seize lubricant to sensor threads.
- Do not allow anti-seize lubricant to contact the end of a sensor. Anti-seize lubricant may possibly affect sensor operation.
- Do not bend probes during installation. If probes are bent, the life of the probe may be shortened and there is a possibility of incorrect sensor readings. Replace bent probes.
- To avoid possible after treatment system damage, ensure the temperature sensors are connected to the proper locations.
NOTE: Apply a coating of anti-seize lubricant to SCR temperature sensor probe threads before installation. - Install the clamps using bolts to secure the exhaust gas temperature sensor probe wires to the sensor table or canister.NOTE: Make sure the exhaust gas temperature sensor probe wires are properly secured, so that they do not come in contact with hot components.
- Install the decomposition tube and SCR catalyst assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Connect the battery or batteries. Refer to Battery Disconnect
.WARNING: Battery acid and battery acid fumes are extremely dangerous and can cause severe burns and explosion. To help reduce the risk of personal injury;
- Wear appropriate goggles and protective clothing.
- Always properly ventilate the area where the service is being performed.
- Never allow battery fluid to come in contact with skin, eyes, fabrics or painted surfaces.
- To avoid arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach the negative (-) battery cable last.
- If acid contacts eyes, skin or clothing, immediately flush with water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
- Operate the engine and check for leaks.
