Removal and Installation: Removal
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Nissan Titan XD. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Loosen the retaining nuts and remove the exhaust gas temperature sensor probes (A) from the system.WARNING: During regeneration, exhaust gas temperature can reach 800°C (1500°F), and exhaust system surface temperature can exceed 700°C (1300°F), which is hot enough to ignite or melt common materials, and to burn people. The exhaust and exhaust components can remain hot after the vehicle has stopped moving. To avoid the risk of fire, property damage, burns or other serious personal injury, allow the exhaust system to cool before beginning this procedure or repair and make sure that no combustible materials are located where they are likely to come in contact with hot exhaust or exhaust components.CAUTION: Do not bend probes during removal. If probes are bent, the life of the probe may be shortened and there is a possibility of incorrect sensor readings. Replace bent probes.NOTE: Record the location where it was installed to make sure it is installed again in the same location.
- Disconnect the temperature sensor connector from the vehicle harness.
- Remove bolts (A) and release clamps securing the exhaust gas temperature sensor probe wires from the sensor table or canister.
- Remove the bolts (B) securing the exhaust gas temperature sensor assembly (1) to the sensor table.
- Loosen retaining nut on each temperature sensor probe and remove each probe. Note: Use caution when removing sensor probes. Do not bend the sensor probes upon removal or installation. If probes are bent, the life of the sensor may be shortened and there is a possibility of incorrect sensor readings. Replace bent sensor probes.
