Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery or batteries. Refer to Battery Disconnect .
  2. Remove rear propeller shaft. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. For (4WD) remove front propeller shaft. Refer to Removal and Installation for Non-XD and Removal and Installation for XD.
  4. Support A/T assembly (1) with a transmission jack (A).

    CAUTION: When setting transmission jack, be careful not to allow it to collide against the drain plug.
  5. Remove nuts and bolts (A) and remove transmission cross member.

  6. Disconnect the oil charging pipe from A/T assembly.
  7. Lower the A/T assembly enough to access the input speed sensor.
  8. Disconnect the harness connector (A) from input speed sensor (1).

  9. Remove input speed sensor from A/T assembly.
