Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK CONNECTOR
Check the metal deposition, damage, and corrosion of connectors (F216 and E73 and E74).

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 2 .

NO

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

CHECK TCM INPUT SIGNAL

Check voltage between TCM harness connector terminal and ground.

Turn ignition switch ON.

TCM		-	Voltage
Connector	Terminal
E73	70	Ground	10 - 16 V

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

INSPECTION END

GO TO 3 .

CHECK CIRCUIT BETWEEN TCM AND A/T ASSEMBLY

Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect TCM connector and A/T assembly connector.

Check continuity between TCM harness connector terminals and A/T assembly harness connector terminals.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 4 .

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

CHECK CIRCUIT BETWEEN FAIL-SAFE SOLENOID VALVE AND ANOTHER CIRCUIT

Check continuity between TCM harness connector terminals.

TCM			Continuity
Connector	Terminal
E73	70	Other than the 70	Not existed

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 5 .

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

CHECK CIRCUIT BETWEEN FAIL-SAFE SOLENOID VALVE AND TCM

Turn ignition switch ON.
Check voltage between TCM harness connector terminals and ground.

TCM		-	Voltage
Connector	Terminal
E73	70	Ground	Other than the battery voltage

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

Replace the transmission assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation (2WD), Removal and Installation (4WD).

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.
