Removal and Installation: VK56VD: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery or batteries negative terminal(s). Refer to Battery Disconnect .
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the front wheel and tire (RH) using power tool. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Rotate steering wheel to full RH stop.
  5. Remove the front fender protector (RH). Refer to Removal and Installation - Front Fender Protector .
  6. Remove terminal bolt (1), terminal nut (2) and disconnect harness from back of generator. Move harness aside.

  7. Disconnect harness connector from bottom of generator.
  8. Remove bolts from the generator front bracket.
  9. Remove the bolt from the generator rear bracket.
  10. Remove generator.
    NOTE: To remove the generator rear bracket, the power steering oil pump must be repositioned first.
  11. Disconnect the harness connector (A) from the power steering pressure switch (1).

  12. Remove bolts and power steering oil pump and position aside.
    NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect the power steering oil pump lines.
  13. Remove bolts (2) and generator rear bracket (1).
