Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Remove the transfer assembly under cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Remove rear propeller shaft. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove front propeller shaft. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Disconnect the harness connectors from the transfer motor, transfer rotary position sensor, mode sensor, and range sensor and separate harnesses from transfer assembly.
  5. Remove transfer breather hose A from transfer assembly. Refer to Exploded View  (Cummins 5.0L models), Removal and Installation - VK56VD Models  (VK56VD models).
  6. Support transfer assembly (1) with a jack (A).

    CAUTION: Secure transfer assembly to a jack.
  7. Remove transfer mounting bolts and separate transfer from A/T assembly.
    CAUTION: Secure transfer assembly to a jack.
