LH Seat: Seatback: Disassembly

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Nissan Titan XD and 2018 Nissan Titan. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING: Do not leave any objects (screwdrivers, tools, etc.) on the seat during seatback repair. It can lead to personal injury if the side air bag module should accidentally deploy.
CAUTION:
  • Before servicing, turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery or batteries, then wait at least three minutes.
  • Always work from the side or back of the seatback, do not work in front of seat.
  • Do not use air tools or electric tools for servicing the seat assembly.
  • Do not insert any objects into the side air bag module.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the side air bag module.
  • Do not expose the side air bag module to temperatures exceeding 90°C (194°F).
  • Do not expose the side air bag module to any oil, grease, detergent or water.
  • During disassembly, do not damage the connectors, retainers, clips, module harness or the side air bag module.
NOTE: If the vehicle has been involved in a collision and the side air bag module has deployed, the seatback must be replaced.
  1. Remove front seat LH. Refer to Removal and Installation - Captain Seats .
  2. Release seatback strap from under the seat.
  3. Release seatback zippers (A), then position seatback trim (1) aside.

  4. Remove headrest.
    1. For models equipped with headrest display unit, perform the following steps:
      1. Disconnect harness connectors from headrest display.
      2. Release inner J-hook (A) from the seatback frame.

      3. Press the headrest holder lock button and lift headrest up to remove from the seatback assembly.
      4. Release headrest harness guides (A) from seatback frame (B).

    2. For models without headrest display unit, perform the following step:
      • Press the headrest holder lock button and lift headrest up to remove from the seatback assembly.
  5. Reach up behind the seatback pad, release the headrest holder locks as shown and remove the headrest holders.

    CAUTION: Before removing/installing headrest holder, check its orientation (front/rear and right/left).
  6. Remove the seat cushion outer finisher (LH).
    1. For power seat:

      1. Remove screw (A).
      2. Release metal clip (B) from the seat frame assembly (2) as shown.

      3. Release pawls and metal clip (C).

      4. Disconnect the harness connectors from the power seat switch and the lumbar support switch then remove power seat cushion outer finisher [LH (1)].
    2. For manual seat:
      1. Release pawl and remove recline lever (1) as shown.

      2. Starting from the front of the seat, release metal clips from seat frame assembly (2) as shown.

      3. Release pawls then remove manual seat cushion outer finisher [LH (1)].

  7. Release pawls and metal clip, then remove the seat cushion outer finisher (RH).

  8. Unclip the side air bag module harness from the seat frame assembly.
    NOTE: Take note of harness routing and attachment location for correct installation.
  9. Disconnect the harness connector from the lumbar support motor and unclip the harness from the seatback assembly.
    NOTE: Take note of harness routing and attachment location for correct installation.
  10. Disconnect the harness connector from the seatback heater (if equipped).
    NOTE: Take note of harness routing and attachment location for correct installation.
  11. For models equipped with climate controlled seats, perform the following steps:
    1. Release the seatback thermal electric device from the seatback bladder.
    2. Release clips, then release J-hook (A) and reposition the seatback trim (1) aside.

    3. Disconnect harness connector (A) from seatback thermal electric device, then release harness clip from seatback frame.

    4. Remove tie straps (B) and seatback thermal electric device (1) from upper blower duct (2) and seatback frame.
  12. Reposition seat cushion assembly and remove screws (A).
    NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.

  13. Remove the seat cushion front inner finisher [RH (1)].
  14. Remove seat cushion rear inner finisher [RH (2)].
  15. Remove bolts (A) on both sides of the seatback assembly (1).
