Seat Cushion: Disassembly

WARNING: Do not leave any objects (screwdrivers, tools, etc.) on the seat during seat cushion repair. It can lead to personal injury if the side air bag module should accidentally deploy.
CAUTION:
  • Before servicing, turn the ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery or batteries and wait at least three minutes.
  • Always work from the side or back of the seatback assembly, do not work in front of seat.
  • Do not use air tools or electric tools for servicing the seat assembly.
  1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Removal and Installation - Captain Seats .
  2. Remove the seat cushion outer finisher.
    1. For power seat:

      1. Remove screw (A).
      2. Release metal clip (B) from the seat frame assembly (2) as shown.

        SYMBOL

        : Metal clip

      3. Release pawls and metal clip (C), then remove power seat cushion outer finisher [LH (1)].

      4. Disconnect the harness connectors from the power seat switch and the lumbar support switch.
    2. For manual seat:
      1. Release pawl and remove recline lever (1) as shown.

      2. Starting from the front of the seat, release metal clips from seat frame assembly (2) as shown.

      3. Release pawls then remove manual seat cushion outer finisher [LH (1)].

  3. Release pawls and metal clip and remove the seat cushion outer finisher (RH).

  4. Release seatback flap from seat cushion frame, then position seatback flap aside.
  5. For models equipped with climate control seats, perform the following procedure:
    1. Release J-hooks (A) from the lower rear cover (1).

    2. Remove screws (A) and the lower rear cover (1).

  6. For models not equipped with climate controlled seats:

    1. Release J-hooks (A) from seat cushion frame.
    2. Disconnect the harness connectors (B) from the seat cushion heater and release the harness clip.

      SYMBOL

  7. Remove the seat cushion trim and seat cushion pad as an assembly from the seat cushion frame using the following procedure:
    1. Release the J-hooks (A) from the left side of the seat cushion frame.

    2. Release the J-hooks (A) from the front of the seat cushion frame.

    3. Release the J-hook (A) from the right side of the seat cushion frame.

  8. Release fasteners (A) then remove hog rings and separate the seat cushion trim from the seat cushion pad.

    CAUTION: Remove all pieces of hog rings and discard them.
  9. Remove seat cushion heater (if necessary). Refer to Removal and Installation .
