Boost leak or previous boost leaks including hose "blow-offs". |
Check for boost leaks. Interview the customer regarding past boost leaks. If past boost leaks have occurred, make sure the boost piping is installed properly. |

Air filter is plugged or incorrect |
Check the air filter to make sure it is not plugged. Replace if necessary. |

Collapsed or restricted air intake piping between the air filter and turbocharger inlet |
Repair or replace the intake piping. |

|
Obstructed turbocharger oil drain |
Remove the turbocharger and inspect the oil drain for obstructions. |

|
Oil coming into the turbocharger inlet side of the turbocharger from closed crankcase ventilation system, or atmosphere |
Inspect the compressor intake and discharge for oil. If oil is present in the compressor intake, as well as in the discharge, check upstream from the turbocharger for the source of the oil. Refer to Crankcase Gases (Blowby) Excessive symptom diagnosis. |
