Removal and Installation - Bank 2: Removal

CAUTION: To avoid possible engine and system damage or performance issues:

Brush away all dirt and debris from the area prior to opening any fuel, air intake, exhaust, cooling, aftertreatment or other engine system.
To avoid contamination, any open engine system ports must be closed immediately with clean care caps or an appropriate covering.
Do not allow any debris to fall into the engine.
Do not allow any chemical cleaners to enter the engine or any open systems during the cleaning process.

Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exploded View .
Remove the heat shield [(LH) and (center)]. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Remove the nut (B) and the pinch bolt (A) from the intermediate shaft lower joint (1).

CAUTION: Do not reuse nut.

Remove the studs (A) and nuts (B) connecting the exhaust manifold (2) to the exhaust transfer tube (1).

NOTE:
- Apply penetrating oil to the exhaust manifold and transfer tube studs and nuts before removal.

Remove the exhaust manifold lock plates (4) and nuts (A).

Remove the exhaust manifold (2). Remove and discard the exhaust manifold gasket (1) and exhaust outlet gasket (3).
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the following:
- Lock plates
- Exhaust manifold gasket
- Exhaust manifold outlet gasket
Remove the exhaust manifold studs (if necessary).
