Diagnosis Procedure

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR POWER SUPPLY INPUT

Turn ignition switch ON.
Turn lighting switch to AUTO.

Check voltage between optical sensor harness connector M52 and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 2 .

GO TO 4 .

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR GROUND INPUT

Check voltage between optical sensor harness connector M52 and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 3 .

GO TO 6 .

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR SIGNAL OUTPUT

While illuminating the optical sensor, check voltage between optical sensor harness connector M52 and ground.

				When shutting off light	0.6 V or less

*: Illuminate the optical sensor. The value may be less than the standard if brightness is weak.

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 7 .

Replace the optical sensor. Refer to Removal and Installation .

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR (OPEN) CIRCUIT

Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect optical sensor connector and BCM connector M18.

Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector M52 and BCM harness connector M18.

M52	1	M18	3	Yes

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 5 .

Repair or replace the harness or connector.

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR (SHORT) CIRCUIT

Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector M52 and ground.

M52	1		No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Repair or replace the harness or connector.

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT

Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect optical sensor connector M52 and BCM connector M18.

Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector M52 and BCM harness connector M18.

M52	3	M18	17	Yes

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Repair or replace the harness connector.

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT (OPEN)

Turn ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect optical sensor connector M52 and BCM connector M18.

Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector M52 and BCM harness connector M18.

M52	2	M18	4	Yes

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

GO TO 8 .

Repair or replace the harness or connector.

CHECK OPTICAL SENSOR CIRCUIT (SHORT)

Check continuity between optical sensor harness connector M52 and ground.

M52	2		No

Is the inspection result normal?

YES

Replace BCM. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Repair or replace the harness or connector.
