Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes. Refer to Battery Disconnect .
  2. Remove front pillar finishers (LH/RH). Refer to Removal and Installation .
  3. Release pawls using a suitable tool and then remove instrument side finisher [LH (1)].

  4. Release pawls using a suitable tool and then remove instrument side finisher [RH (1)].

  5. Remove center console upper. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  6. Remove steering wheel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  7. Remove steering column covers. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  8. Remove combination switch. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  9. Remove combination meter. Refer to Removal and Installation (TYPE A) or Removal and Installation (TYPE B).
  10. Remove audio unit or AV control unit. Refer to Removal and Installation (BASE AUDIO SYSTEM), Removal and Installation (DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM), Removal and Installation (REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM -- WITH BASE AUDIO SYSTEM), or Removal and Installation (REAR VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM -- WITH DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM).
  11. Remove front air control or A/C switch assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation (AUTOMATIC AIR CONDITIONING) or Removal and Installation (MANUAL AIR CONDITIONING).
  12. Remove front passenger air bag module. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  13. Remove glove box assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  14. Remove instrument panel assembly screws (A).

  15. Disconnect the harness connectors from the instrument panel assembly.
  16. Remove instrument panel assembly through passenger door opening.
    CAUTION:
    • Cover shift selector assembly with a shop cloth to prevent damage to instrument panel assembly.
    • When removing instrument panel assembly, two people are required to prevent from damage.
  17. Removal of the following components is only necessary if replacing the instrument panel assembly.


  1. Remove switch panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Using a suitable tool, release pawls and remove instrument finisher A (1).
