Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative and positive battery terminals, then wait at least three minutes. Refer to Removal and Installation (Battery) .
  2. Remove the instrument side finishers (1) (LH/RH) using a suitable tool.

    NOTE: LH side shown; RH side similar.
  3. Remove the front pillar finishers (LH/RH). Refer to Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the instrument lower panel LH. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  5. Remove the diagnostic connector.
  6. Remove the A/C switch assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation (MANUAL A/C) or Removal and Installation (AUTOMATIC A/C).
  7. Remove cluster lid C. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  8. Remove the audio unit (if equipped). Refer to Removal and Installation [DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM (TYPE 1)].
  9. Remove the AV control unit (if equipped). Refer to Removal and Installation [DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM (TYPE 2)] or Removal and Installation [DISPLAY AUDIO SYSTEM (TYPE 3)].
  10. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  11. Remove the combination switch. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  12. Remove the combination meter. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  13. Remove the glove box assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  14. Remove the side vent grille (RH).
  15. Remove the defroster grille (RH) and defroster grille (LH).
  16. Remove the side air bag bolt and disconnect electrical connector.
  17. Remove the center console assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  18. Remove the instrument panel screws (A) (LH/RH).

    NOTE: The instrument panel screws (A) can be found near the side defroster grilles (LH/RH).
  19. Remove the remaining instrument panel screws.
  20. Disconnect the harness connector from the front passenger air bag module.
  21. Disconnect all remaining harness connectors.
  22. With the help of an assistant, remove the instrument panel assembly.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to scratch the instrument panel pad and other parts.
