FRONT COVER : Removal and Installation: Installation
- Install new front oil seal to front cover. Refer to FRONT OIL SEAL : Removal & Installation .
- Install front cover with the following procedure:
- Install tension guide (upper) to front cover.
- If removed, install the camshaft sprocket (INT) oil seal.CAUTION: Do not reuse camshaft sprocket (INT) oil seal if removed from front cover.
- Insert camshaft sprocket (INT) oil seal (2) into the front cover (1) to the specified depth (A) using suitable tool.

: 1.9 - 2.7 mm (0.075 - 0.106 in)
- Measure the depth of the camshaft sprocket (INT) oil seal (2) at positions (B) and (D). The difference should not exceed 0.5 deg.. Repeat measurements at positions (C) and (E).
- Insert camshaft sprocket (INT) oil seal (2) into the front cover (1) to the specified depth (A) using suitable tool.
- Install new O-rings and filter.CAUTION: Do not reuse O-rings or filter.
- Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket (E) with a suitable tool to front cover (2) as shown.

Use Genuine RTV Silicone Sealant or equivalent. Refer to HOW TO USE THIS INFORMATION : Recommended Chemical Products and Sealants .
CAUTION:- After tightening front cover, remove liquid gasket that protrudes at location (
) shown.
- Installation should be done within 5 minutes after application of liquid gasket.
- Do not fill the engine with oil for at least 30 minutes after the components are installed to allow the liquid gasket to cure.
- After tightening front cover, remove liquid gasket that protrudes at location (
- Make sure the mating marks on the timing chain and each sprocket are still aligned. Then install the front cover.CAUTION: Do not damage the front oil seal or camshaft sprocket (INT) oil seal during installation.
- Tighten the front cover bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.

: 49 N.m (5.0 kg-m, 36 ft-lb)

- Install crankshaft pulley using the following procedure:
- When inserting crankshaft pulley with a suitable tool, tap on its center portion (not circumference).CAUTION: Do not damage front oil seal lip portion.
- Secure crankshaft pulley (1) with a suitable tool (A).
- Apply new engine oil to thread and seat surfaces of crankshaft pulley bolt.
- Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt to the specified torque.

: 42.1 N.m (4.3 kg-m, 31 ft-lb)
- Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt to the specified angle using Tool.CAUTION: Check and confirm the tightening angle using Tool. Avoid judgment by visual inspection without Tool.
Tool
: KV10112100 (BT-8653-A)
Tightening angle
: 90 deg. - 96 deg.
- Check that crankshaft rotates clockwise smoothly.
- When inserting crankshaft pulley with a suitable tool, tap on its center portion (not circumference).
- Install the electric intake valve timing control actuator and tighten the bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.

- Install oil pan (upper) using the following procedure:
- Use a suitable tool (A) to remove old liquid gasket from mating surfaces.
- Remove the old liquid gasket from mating surface of cylinder block.
- Remove old liquid gasket from the bolt holes and threads.
CAUTION: Do not scratch or damage the mating surfaces when cleaning off old liquid gasket. - Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket (C) with a suitable tool as shown.

Use Genuine Silicone RTV Sealant or equivalent. Refer to HOW TO USE THIS INFORMATION : Recommended Chemical Products and Sealants .
CAUTION:- Apply liquid gasket to outside of bolt hole for the positions shown by "
" marks.
- Attaching should be done within 5 minutes after liquid gasket application.
- Do not re-tighten bolts after the 5 minutes have elapsed.
- Then allow 30 minutes for the liquid gasket to set before adding oil to the engine.
- Apply liquid gasket to outside of bolt hole for the positions shown by "
- Install new O-rings at oil pan (upper) side.CAUTION:
- Install avoiding misalignment of O-ring.
- Do not reuse O-ring.
- Tighten oil pan (upper) bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown.CAUTION: Remove any liquid gasket that protrudes onto the front cover or rear oil seal sealing surface.

: 8.8 N.m (0.90 kg-m, 78 in-lb)

- Use a suitable tool (A) to remove old liquid gasket from mating surfaces.
- Install the rear cover plate. Refer to OIL PAN (LOWER) : Exploded View .
- Installation of the remaining components is in the reverse order of removal.
- Perform "ELECTRIC IVT CONTROL ACTUATOR POSITION LEARNING". Refer to Description .
- Perform the "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" when harness connector of electric throttle control actuator is disconnected. Refer to Description .
