Starter Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Do the battery removal procedure (see RECONNECTION ).
  2. Remove the air cleaner (see AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  3. Remove the battery base (see step 11 under ENGINE REMOVAL ).
  4. Remove the harness clamp (A).

  5. Disconnect the positive starter cable (6) and the S terminal connector (C).
  6. Remove the two bolts holding the starter, then remove the starter (D) and the gasket (E).
