Rear Differential Fluid Inspection and Replacement: Replacement

- Park the vehicle on level ground, and turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Remove the filler plug (A) and the sealing washer (B).
- Remove the drain plug (C) and the sealing washer (D), and drain the fluid.
- Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer.
- Refill the recommended fluid until it reaches the bottom of the filler plug hole.
Fluid Capacity:
2.53 L (2.67 US qt) at fluid change
2.77 L (2.93 US qt) at overhaul
Recommended fluid: Acura All-Wheel Drive Fluid (DPSF)
- Reinstall the filler plug with a new sealing washer.
- If the Maintenance Minder required to replace the rear differential fluid, reset the Maintenance Minder (see MAINTENANCE MINDER™ ), and this procedure is complete. If the Maintenance Minder did not require to replace the rear differential fluid, go to step 8.
- With the ignition switch in LOCK (0), connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) behind the driver's dashboard lower cover.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the PCM. If it does not, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting (see DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING ).
- Select GAUGES in the BODY ELECTRICAL with the HDS.
- Select ADJUSTMENT in the GAUGES with the HDS.
- Select MAINTENANCE MINDER in the ADJUSTMENT with the HDS.
- Select RESET in the MAINTENANCE MINDER with the HDS.
- Select MAINTENANCE SUB ITEM 6 RESET with the HDS, and reset the rear differential fluid life.
