Front passenger's door lock knob switch circuit troubleshooting
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- With the front passenger's door lock knob switch in LOCK position, select SECURITY with the HDS, and enter the DATA LIST.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR LOCK KNOB SW. (UNLOCK) in the DATA LIST.
Is information indicator ON?
YES -Go to step 4.
NO -Go to step 8.
- Disconnect the front passenger's door latch 10P connector.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR LOCK KNOB SW. (UNLOCK) in the DATA LIST.
Is information indicator OFF?
YES -Faulty front passenger's door lock knob switch; replace the front passenger's door latch (see FRONT DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Go to step 6.
- Disconnect front passenger's MPCS unit connector A (28P).
- Check for continuity between front passenger's MPCS unit connector A (28P) terminal No. 17 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to ground in the wire.
NO -Replace the front passenger's MPCS unit (see FRONT PASSENGER'S MPCS UNIT INPUT TEST ).
- Disconnect the front passenger's door latch 10P connector.
- Connect front passenger's door latch 10P connector terminal No. 8 and body ground with a jumper wire.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR LOCK KNOB SW. (UNLOCK) in the DATA LIST.
Is information indicator ON?
YES -Go to step 11.
NO -Go to step 12.
- Check for continuity between front passenger's door latch 10P connector terminal No. 10 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES -Faulty front passenger's door lock knob switch (UNLOCK); replace the front passenger's door latch (see FRONT DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT ).
NO -Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G506).
- Connect front passenger's MPCS unit connector A (28P) terminal No. 17 and body ground with a jumper wire.
- Check the ON/OFF information of the FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR LOCK KNOB SW. (UNLOCK) in the DATA LIST.
Is information indicator ON?
YES -Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.
NO -Replace the front passenger's MPCS unit (see FRONT PASSENGER'S MPCS UNIT INPUT TEST ).
