    Is there continuity?

    YES  -Go to step 10.

NO  -There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES  -There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO  -Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD) (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ), and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good AcuraLink control unit or update the AcuraLink control unit (see ACURALINK CONTROL UNIT UPDATE ), if it does not have the latest software, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away after the substitution, replace the original AcuraLink control unit (see ACURALINK CONTROL UNIT (XM RECEIVER) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  ). If the symptom/indication goes away after the update, troubleshooting is complete. If the symptom/indication is still present, go to step  1, and recheck.
