DTC 74-24: Short to Ground in the Front Passenger's E-pretensioner Motor

NOTE:
  1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO CLEAR DTCS  ).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
  3. Do the function test for the E-Pretensioner with HDS. Select SRS, function test, then select E-Pretensioner and follow the screen prompts on the HDS.
  4. Check for DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO CLEAR DTCS  ).

    Is DTC 74-24 indicated? 

    YES  -Go to step 5.

    NO  -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES  . If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.

  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  6. Disconnect the floor wire harness 2P connector from the front passenger's E-pretensioner motor (see FRONT SEAT BELT REPLACEMENT ).
  7. Clear the DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO CLEAR DTCS  ).
  8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.
  9. Do the function test for the E-Pretensioner with HDS. Select SRS, function test, then select E-Pretensioner and follow the screen prompts on the HDS.
  10. Check for DTCs with the HDS (see HOW TO CLEAR DTCS  ).

    Is DTC 74-24 indicated? 

    YES  -Go to step 11.

    NO  -Faulty the front passenger's E-pretensioner motor; replace the front passenger's seat belt (see FRONT SEAT BELT REPLACEMENT ), then clear the DTC.

  11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  12. Disconnect E-pretensioner unit connector B (14P) from the E-pretensioner unit (see E-PRETENSIONER UNIT REPLACEMENT  ).
  13. Measure the resistance between body ground and floor wire harness 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 individually.

    Is there an open circuit or at least 1 MΩ? 

    YES  -Replace the E-pretensioner unit (see E-PRETENSIONER UNIT REPLACEMENT  ), then clear the DTC.

    NO  -Short in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire harness, then clear the DTC.
