Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  2. Remove the front final drive (4WD models). Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  3. Remove the nuts and bolts of the steering gear assembly, using power tool, then remove the crossmember from the vehicle and support the steering gear assembly with a suitable wire.
  4. Remove the air duct and resonator assembly and the air cleaner case (upper). Refer to "EXPLODED VIEW ".
  5. Remove front timing chain case. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  6. Remove timing chain (primary) only. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  7. Remove the oil pump assembly.
