Removal and Installation of Brake Pad: Installation

- Apply grease to the shims and shim covers as follows:
- For vehicles equipped with VK56DE engine, apply Molykote AS-880N grease between the inner and outer shims and shim covers, then attach shims and shim covers to the brake pads.
- For vehicles equipped with VQ40DE engine, apply Molykote AS-880N grease between the outer shim and shim cover, then attach the shims and outer shim cover to the brake pads.
- Attach pad retainers to torque member.CAUTION: When attaching pad retainer, attach it firmly so that it is flush with torque member, as shown.
- Apply Molykote 7439 grease to the pad retainers as shown, then install the brake pads, shims and shim covers to the torque member.
- Using a suitable tool push pistons into caliper body.CAUTION: When pushing in piston, brake fluid returns to master cylinder reservoir tank. Watch the level of the brake fluid in the reservoir tank.
- Remove the suitable wire, then swing the caliper body down over the brake pad assemblies.
- Install the lower sliding pin bolt and tighten to specification. Refer to "EXPLODED VIEW OF BRAKE CALIPER ".
- Check the brakes for drag.
- Inspect the brake fluid level, refill if necessary. Refer to "DRAIN AND REFILL ".
- Install the front wheel and tire. Refer to "ADJUSTMENT ".
