Removal and installation: Removal

  1. Release the fuel pressure. Refer to "INSPECTION ".
  2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
  3. Drain the brake fluid. Refer to "DRAIN AND REFILL ".
  4. Remove the engine room cover.
  5. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  6. Remove cowl top and cowl top extension LH. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  7. Disconnect fuel line and reposition out of the way.
  8. Disconnect the brake lines and brake fluid level switch connector.
  9. Remove master cylinder from booster assembly. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
  10. Disconnect vacuum hose from brake booster.
  11. Remove instrument panel lower cover LH. Refer to "EXPLODED VIEW ".
  12. Disconnect the accelerator pedal connector.
  13. Remove snap pin and clevis pin from inside vehicle.
  14. Disconnect the steering column upper joint and reposition it out of the way.
  15. Remove nuts on brake booster and brake pedal assembly, then remove brake pedal. Refer to "EXPLODED VIEW ".
  16. Remove brake booster from dash panel on engine room side.
CAUTION: Be careful not to deform or bend brake tube while removing brake booster.
