Front Brake Pads: Removal
NOTE:
If shims are rusted or show peeling of the rubber coat, replace them with new shims. Whenever the brake pads are replaced, the inner shim, the outer shim and the shim cover have to be replaced as a set.
- Raise and support front of vehicle. Remove master cylinder reservoir cap. Remove pin bolt, using power tool.
- Suspend the cylinder body with wire. Then remove pads with retainers, inner and outer shims and pad return springs. Note pad condition and location for proper installation (if reusable). Minimum pad thickness is 0.08 in. (2.0 mm) for all models.
