Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Altima. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

With CONSULT-II: Malfunction code No. C1114, C1120, C1121, C1122, C1123, C1124, C1125, C1126 or C1127 

Without CONSULT-II: Malfunction code No. 41, 42, 45, 46, 51, 52, 55, 56, or 63 

  1. INSPECTION START 

    Solenoid valve relay inspection.

    1. : GO TO 2.
  2. CHECK SOLENOID VALVE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 

    Check 30A [h  ] fusible link (ABS ACTR) for ABS solenoid valve relay. For fusible link layout, refer to "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT ".

    Is fusible link OK? 

    1. Yes: GO TO 3.
    2. No: GO TO  7.
  3. CHECK FUSE 

    Check 10A fuse No. 45. For fuse layout, refer to "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING CIRCUIT ".

    Is fuse OK? 

    1. Yes: GO TO 4.
    2. No: GO TO  9.
  4. CHECK CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect connectors from ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Check terminals for damage or loose connection. Then reconnect connectors.
    2. Carry out self-diagnosis again.

      Does warning lamp activate again? 

      1. Yes: GO TO 5.
      2. No: INSPECTION END. 
  5. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT 

    Refer to "ABS ACTUATOR AND ELECTRIC UNIT (CONTROL UNIT) GROUND ".

    Is ground circuit OK? 

    1. Yes: GO TO 6.
    2. No: Repair harness and connectors.
  6. CHECK SOLENOID VALVE POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 
    1. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) connector.
    2. Check voltage between ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) connector terminal 18 and ground.

      Does battery voltage exist? 

      1. Yes: Replace ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
      2. No: Check the following.
        • Harness connector E125
        • Harness for open or short between ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and fusible link If NG, repair harness or connectors.

  7. REPLACE FUSIBLE LINK 

    Replace fusible link.

    Does the fusible link blow out when ignition switch is turned ON? 

    1. Yes: GO TO 8.
    2. No: INSPECTION END. 
  8. CHECK RELAY UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT 
    1. Disconnect ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) connector
    2. Check continuity between ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) connector terminal 18 (Y) and ground.

      Does continuity exist? 

      1. Yes: Check the following.
        • Harness connector E125
        • Harness for open or short between ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and fusible link If NG, repair harness or connectors.
      2. No: Replace ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit). Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".

  9. REPLACE FUSE 

    Replace fuse.

    Does the fuse blow out when ignition switch is turned ON? 

    1. Yes: Check the following.
      • Harness connector E125
      • Harness for open or short between ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and fuse If NG, repair harness or connectors.
    2. No: INSPECTION END.
