Operational Check: Procedure:
- Check Blower
- Turn fan control dial to 1-speed.
Blower should operate on 1-speed.
- Then turn fan control dial to 2-speed.
- Continue checking blower speed until all four speeds are checked.
- Leave blower on 4-speed.
If NG, go to "BLOWER MOTOR CIRCUIT ". If OK, continue with next check.
- Turn fan control dial to 1-speed.
- Check Discharge Air
- Turn air control dial to each position.
- Confirm air discharge at all air outlets.
If NG, go to "MODE DOOR MOTOR CIRCUIT ".
If OK, continue with next check.
- Check Recirculation
- Press Recirculation switch.
Recirculation indicator should light.
- Listen for intake door position change (you should hear blower sound change slightly).NOTE: Confirm that the RCIRCULATION (REC) switch is canceled in the FOOT (), D/F () and DEF () modes.
If NG, go to "INTAKE DOOR MOTOR CIRCUIT ".
If OK, continue with next check.
- Press Recirculation switch.
- Check Temperature Decrease
- Turn fan control dial to 1-speed.
- Turn temperature control dial to full cold.
- Check for cold air at discharge air outlets.
If NG, go to "INSUFFICIENT COOLING ".
If OK, continue with next check.
- Check Temperature Increase
- Turn temperature control dial to full hot.
- Check for hot air at discharge air outlets.
If NG, go to "INSUFFICIENT HEATING ".
If OK, continue with next check.
- Check Air Conditioner Switch
Turn fan control dial to the desired (1- to 4-speed) position and push the air conditioner switch (if equipped) to turn ON the air conditioner. The indicator light should come on when air conditioner is ON.
If NG, go to "A/C SYSTEM ".
If all operational checks are OK (symptom can not be duplicated), go to "HOW TO PERFORM EFFICIENT DIAGNOSIS FOR AN ELECTRICAL INCIDENT " and perform tests as outlined to simulate driving conditions environment. If symptom appears, refer to "SYMPTOM TABLE " and perform applicable trouble diagnosis procedure.
