Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder and 2002 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM 116-pin harness connector. For ECM location, see Figure . Disconnect Gray TCM 24-pin harness connector M120. See Fig 1 . Check continuity of Green/Red wire between TCM harness connector terminal No. 33 and ECM harness connector terminal No. 114. See Figure and Fig 2 . Continuity should exist. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, leave harness connector disconnected and go to step  3 .
  2. Check following:
    • Check for poor, loose, corroded or damaged terminal connections in in-line harness connectors F27 and M94. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
    • Check for open or short in circuit between ECM and TCM.
    If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  .
  3. Check continuity of Green/Red wire between ground and ECM harness connector terminal No. 114. Continuity should not exist. Also, check circuit for short to voltage. If problem is found, repair as necessary. After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST  . If no problem is found, go to next step.
  4. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
