Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2001 Infiniti QX4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Voltage measured is average voltage for pulse signal. The actual pulse signal can be confirmed by using a oscilloscope.
  1. Start engine. Measure voltage (backprobe) between TCM harness connector terminal No. 39 and ground. If voltage measures 7-8 volts at idle, go to next step. If not, inspect harness for short or open between TCM connector and ECM, resistor and ignition coil. Repair as necessary.
  2. Road test and perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE . If DTC is still present, recheck applicable TCM input/output signals. See PIN VOLTAGE TESTS . If any voltage measured is not as specified, check connector pin terminals for damage or loose connection to harness connector. Repair as necessary.
